UAF improvement calculator

Compare UAF course improvements by projected CGPA impact.

The Improvement-course Advisor ranks eligible courses, explains their potential impact, builds toward a target CGPA, and lets you save and compare planning scenarios in your browser.

UAF determines whether a student may repeat or improve a course. The advisor estimates academic outcomes; it does not confirm eligibility, scheduling, fees, or official policy.

01

What the UAF Improvement Advisor does

It turns an existing published result into a practical course-improvement comparison.

After a result is loaded, the advisor finds GPA-bearing courses that are below the maximum quality-point level. It then estimates a new cumulative CGPA for the grades or marks you choose. You can also request a target CGPA, save several plans on the current device, and compare them without changing the original result.

Rank by impact

See which individual course has the largest potential effect on cumulative CGPA.

Set realistic targets

Compare A, B, C, D, or exact expected marks instead of guessing from letter grades alone.

Save and compare plans

Keep several browser-only scenarios and compare their projected CGPA side by side.

02

How the improvement calculation works

The estimate uses the same calculation path as the result workspace.

  1. 1
    Load a published UAF result

The advisor starts from the courses and attempts already present in the result.

  2. 2
    Identify eligible planning opportunities

Maximum-grade and GPA-exempt courses are removed from the opportunity list.

  3. 3
    Choose expected results

Select a target grade or enter expected marks for one or more courses.

  4. 4
    Create simulated new attempts

The selected outcomes are added as planning-only improvement attempts.

  5. 5
    Recalculate the full record

Repeat handling, quality points, GPA credits, and cumulative CGPA are resolved again.

  6. 6
    Save or compare the scenario

Plans can stay in the current browser so different course combinations remain easy to revisit.

03

Why courses are ranked by CGPA impact

The lowest grade is not always the most valuable course to improve.

Credit hours and the quality-point gap both matter. A four-credit C grade can sometimes produce a larger CGPA increase than a one-credit F grade. The advisor therefore compares the projected cumulative result for every eligible course and places the strongest opportunity first.

Important

A weak simulated repeat cannot erase a stronger completed attempt. The normal repeat-course engine still keeps the strongest valid completed result.

04

Build toward a target CGPA and compare saved plans

The advisor can turn a desired CGPA into a practical high-impact course plan.

Enter a target between 0.00 and 4.00. The advisor adds the strongest A-grade opportunities in impact order and verifies the combined result through the full CGPA engine. It reports when the target is already reached and shows the maximum projection available from the currently eligible courses.

  • Each course card keeps the main CGPA impact visible and places marks, quality points, and recommendation reasoning in an expandable detail section.
  • Up to four named scenarios can be saved and compared on the same device.
  • Saved plans contain planning selections only and are not uploaded as student records.
  • Loading a saved plan restores it as an editable draft without modifying the published result.

Accuracy, assumptions, and university policy

The mathematical estimate and official eligibility are different questions.

  • The projection is based on the courses and marks currently available in the loaded result.
  • The same UAF quality-point and repeat-attempt rules used by this calculator are applied.
  • Pending, malformed, and GPA-exempt courses are not treated as normal improvement opportunities.
  • Future policy changes, revised marks, course substitutions, and official eligibility decisions cannot be predicted.
  • Confirm important academic decisions with the relevant UAF office or official record.
